We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee,
because by Thy holy cross,
Thou hast redeemed the world. |

XII REFLECTION From the time we are children we
have heard:
"Jesus Christ died for our sins."
What does that mean?
Why did he do it?
Jesus lived, suffered and died on the cross
to redeem us from the damning effects of sin. Through His life and
suffering He became one with us and elevated our human status to His
divine status. We too, are children of God and heirs of Heaven.
But why? Because He loves us. He was lifted
up on the cross to lift us up from sin, shame, and guilt. The arms
stretched out on the cross are extended in a loving embrace.

PRAYER |
|
My Lord, I reach out to You in love and
gratitude for Your loving kindness. You are the Almighty, and Merciful
God! I am awestruck by Your Greatness and full of wonder that You care for
me, and want me to be with You. Your mercy overwhelms me. My shame is
replaced with the joy of knowing that I am loved and forgiven. I cry out
with You:
"Lord, into Your hands I
commit my spirit!"
