We adore Thee, O Christ, and we praise Thee,
because by Thy holy cross,
Thou hast redeemed the world. |

IV REFLECTION
Mary did not ask to be the mother of Jesus, but she did it. These were
dangerous times, and it was not safe to stand out from the crowd. Even if
Mary knew that God had special plans for Jesus, there must have been a
part of her that just wanted him to meet a nice girl, settle down, and
give her grandchildren. But
instead, he insisted on traveling around the country, calling attention to
himself. The authorities were noticing, and they were not happy. And then
it happened. Her worst fears were realized, and she could only stand by as
he was tortured and killed before her eyes.

PRAYER |
|
Mary, you
knew sorrow and anguish in your love for your son. May we ever turn to you
in times of distress in our own families, because we know that you will
understand.
Pray that
we, too, will remain faithful to God’s will-- no matter what life throws
at us--and that, like you, we will always remain at Jesus’ side.
